Oracle Java SE 8 Release Updates announcement The changes are fully described in the following documents, which take precedence for any discrepancy. The above information is for informational purposes only. This means that Commercial Users may use the January 2019 CPU in production without a commercial license, but will need to obtain a commercial license to use the April 2019 CPU/PSU or later release in production. Therefore, the new license agreement is effective for all Java SE 8 releases beginning with the ApCPU and PSU releases. The first release after January, 2019, is the April 2019 CPU, released on April 16, 2019. This is being accomplished through a change in the license agreement for all Java SE 8 Updates released after January, 2019. However, commercial/business use of those public releases in production is restricted and requires a commercial license. For Java SE 8, Oracle will continue to release new updates on its public websites for personal/individual users or for non-production, development/testing purposes. Any updates released after the End of Public Updates were released on My Oracle Support (MOS) or certain other Oracle internal channels for those support customers who are entitled to download them.įor Java SE 8, the End of Public Updates is being handled differently. Historically, for all previous Java SE versions (7, 6 and older), the End of Public Updates has meant that Oracle no longer released any future update for that version on any public websites for public download. However, Oracle will continue to release new Java SE 8 updates publicly for a restricted set of use cases. This means that Java SE 8 updates are no longer released publicly for Commercial use after January, 2019. Oracle Java SE 8 reached its End of Public Updates in January, 2019.
